To My Family & LifeBrothers

To My Family
I owe my deepest appreciation to my family for their support, encouragement and advice. To my wife who is my soulmate and my greatest cheerleader – thank you for your love, compassion and courage to face adversity. If only more people cared and loved as deeply for others as you. To our two sons, you boys are our pride and joy. You both possess the things that are most important in this world – character, integrity, compassion for others and a loving heart – always hold these sacred. To my wife and our two sons, thank you also for enduring my schedule of rising in the wee hours of the morning to work on LifeBrothers and my absences during Chapter visits and speaking engagements. I recognize the sacrifices you have made for me and for our young men. To my brothers, sister, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and their spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends, you have contributed immensely to this program, each from a unique perspective based upon age, profession, gender and personal experience. Thank you for challenging me to tackle the most difficult subjects to enlighten our young adults and, in doing so, to call them to own their choices, to honor their non-negotiable values and to seek personal excellence, not perfection. And lastly to my parents whose lessons are repeated throughout LifeBrothers. Thank you for lighting the path for us to follow with your wisdom, your words, and most importantly, your actions.

To My LifeBrothers
LifeBrothers would not exist without you men, hundreds of you who are far too numerous to list by name. You know who you are and so do I. Thank you for your overwhelming enthusiasm for openly discussing real life issues. Once I opened the door and began discussing my fears and failures, you confirmed the issues I was willing to discuss in public were the issues most men struggled with in private but were afraid to share. To those of you who spoke to me in private and shared your fears and failures, thank you for trusting me enough and loving me enough to invite me into your heart – I will forever be humbled and honored by you. To those of you who pored over dozens of drafts of my original manuscript, the LifeBrothers Promise & Promise Card as well as the Chapter Roundtable/Circle of Brothers program, how can I ever repay you for your insight, wisdom and work? You young men have taught me so much about life, brotherhood and love. It is you men who gave these programs life by making them relevant and impactful. Thank you for asking me to be your voice, a voice in the wilderness calling out to so many men who feel lost, alone, afraid and even destitute, calling them home with a simple message of unconditional love, acceptance, respect, forgiveness and hope. Happiness is so simple, it so often simply eludes us.

Lest We Forget
This program is dedicated in loving memory of our friends who died from alcohol, drugs or suicide. We love and miss you and will never let your deaths be in vain. We are our brother’s keepers and promise to intervene vigorously to prevent tragedies.
